Open a document using unid in a nonexistent view on the web

I just noticed that I can use any nonexistent view name in the URL with the UNID to open/edit a document. I knew it works with "0" as view name, but this is new to me. Is that by design, or by mistake?

Example:

https://secure.mysite.com/apps/logistics.nsf/myviewthatineverevercreated/0B74C5148C62DE3BC1257B7D013194F1?editdocument

By design
If a view name or a view unid (not 0) is specified that view must exist.
